The Final Chapter of Psalms: Praising Him with a Loud Voice (Psalm 150)
“Praise the LORD!
Praise God in His sanctuary;
Praise Him in His mighty expanse.” (Psalm 150:1, NASB 2020)
This is the final psalm of the Book of Psalms. It ends joyfully with the sound of Hallelujah, praising God. “God’s sanctuary” refers to heaven, to God’s kingdom; and “the expanse” refers to the universe in which humankind exists. The entire psalm seems to carry the joyful atmosphere of all creation praising the Lord together. It also allows us to sense the background sound of praise when the new heaven and new earth appear at the end of days, and when Jesus comes again.
This year, on February 28, 2026, the United States once again launched a sudden strike against Iran. This adds yet another example to the scene of nation rising against nation, people against people, with famines and earthquakes occurring in various places. In fact, wars are breaking out to greater or lesser degrees all over the world. All these things testify that the end of the world is drawing near, and that the last days are approaching. The Bible says:
“But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be discovered.
Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat!
But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells.”
(2 Peter 3:10–13, NASB 2020)
Before the end comes, “the heavens will pass away with a roar.” This is also a kind of sound—but one that clearly indicates a massive explosion or a sudden, global disaster. The world that so many people cling to will come to an end in that great noise. What follows is “a new heaven and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells.” That “righteousness” is Jesus Christ Himself. And then what greets us is an overwhelming sound of praise and rejoicing offered to the true God in heaven.
If we think about it carefully: at that time, will we be among those who joyfully welcome Jesus Christ descending from heaven, or among the people of the world who weep when they see Him?
“Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him; and all the tribes of the earth will mourn over Him. So it is to be. Amen.”
(Revelation 1:7, NASB 2020)
Today, March 2, 2026, I happened to attend the funeral of a brother from Tianmu Church. Although his life did not reach what people commonly expect in length (he was 54 years old), his life was wonderful. It was wonderful because he knew God. Even though he graduated from a prestigious university, he did not attain the worldly status that people might think he “should” have had. Instead, he worked in humble, ordinary jobs. Yet through the many traces of his service in Tianmu Church, his life was made truly wonderful.
Throughout the funeral, I kept holding back my tears—not because I was grieving for this brother, for he has already been saved. I was grieving for his parents. As a fellow parent, I could deeply emphasize: how can parents bear to see the child they love leave this world before their eyes? What made it even more painful was his father’s unbelief. As a son, even at the moment of leaving this world, he still had to worry about his father’s faith. How can one bear it?
Life does not depend on its length, but on whether it is wonderful.
If a life is truly wonderful, then its length no longer matters.
Yesterday, March 1, 2026, a training seminar for newly appointed council members was held at Taipei Church, with more than four hundred people in attendance. After I finished the portion I was responsible for, I went to the second-floor preachers’ room at Taipei Church to exchange views with the preachers and ministers. During the sharing, I listened quietly. I heard about the incidents of disobedience to the truth and refusal to submit that are now like “springing up everywhere” within the True Church. Hearing this was truly heartbreaking.
Yet in my heart, the truth of the Bible kept coming to mind:
“And he said to me, ‘Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is near. Let the one who does wrong, still do wrong; and the one who is filthy, still be filthy; and let the one who is righteous, still practice righteousness; and the one who is holy, still keep himself holy.
Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to reward each one as his work deserves. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.’
Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter the city by the gates. Outside are the dogs, the sorcerers, the sexually immoral persons, the murderers, the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices lying.”
(Revelation 22:10–15, NASB 2020)
When I think of this, I know that in the last days the Lord Jesus will surely be victorious, and the True Church will certainly rise. Why, then, should I worry on God’s behalf? I must hold fast to being among those who rejoice and sing at the end of days, not among those who tremble with guilt, fear, and weeping with gnashing of teeth.
Just like the ending of the Book of Psalms, it is as though we are seeing the final scene of the world: a resounding Hallelujah, a psalm of praise sung at the top of one’s voice, an immense praise that echoes through the heavens.
“Praise Him for His mighty deeds;
Praise Him according to His excellent greatness.
Praise Him with trumpet sound;
Praise Him with harp and lyre.
Praise Him with tambourine and dancing;
Praise Him with stringed instruments and flute.
Praise Him with loud cymbals;
Praise Him with resounding cymbals.
Everything that has breath shall praise the LORD.
Praise the LORD!”
(Psalm 150:2–6, NASB 2020)
