There is a great roadway called the Highway of Holiness(Isaiah 35)
May 27, 2026
“A highway will be there, a roadway, And it will be called the Highway of Holiness. The unclean will not travel on it, But it will be for the one who walks that way, And fools will not wander on it.” (Isaiah 35:8 NASB2020)
This chapter prophesies the state of the True Church in the last days, which can be compared with Revelation 21:
“And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is among the people, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them, and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.”” (Revelation 21:3-4 NASB2020)
As the verses in Isaiah here read:
“The wilderness and the desert will rejoice, And the desert will shout for joy and blossom; Like the crocus It will blossom profusely And rejoice with joy and jubilation. The glory of Lebanon will be given to it, The majesty of Carmel and Sharon. They will see the glory of the Lord, The majesty of our God.” (Isaiah 35:1-2 NASB2020)
The “wilderness and desert” represent the heart before faith. After faith, “it will blossom profusely, and rejoice with joy and jubilation .” Moreover, in God’s church:
“Then the eyes of those who are blind will be opened, And the ears of those who are deaf will be unstopped. Then those who limp will leap like a deer, And the tongue of those who cannot speak will shout for joy. For waters will burst forth in the wilderness, And streams in the desert.” (Isaiah 35:5-6 NASB2020)
“Blind” refers to those whose hearts are blinded. This means that after faith, “their eyes will be opened,” that is, they will understand the mystery of salvation through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Not only that, seemingly profound truths will become understandable, and ways that were previously impossible will now be walked “leaping like a deer.” Water in the wilderness and streams in the desert, previously impossible, will now become possible.
"A highway will be there, and it will be called the Highway of Holiness." This is the road the redeemed will walk, the road of redemption. Those who walk on this road will be redeemed. This road of redemption is the True Church of the last days, with the abidance of God, leading to the eternal Kingdom of Heaven. Anyone who is a "redeemed" by the Lord, that is, a true citizen of the Kingdom of Heaven, can enjoy this spiritual joy. Even if the difficult circumstances have not yet been resolved, because God's Kingdom is in their heart, they can have joy on earth as it is in heaven, possessing a joy that transcends hardship. Just like Paul and Silas, who were beaten up and imprisoned, even in the dark prison at midnight when their spirits were most easily down, they could still pray and sing praises to God:
“The crowd joined in an attack against them, and the chief magistrates tore their robes off them and proceeded to order them to be beaten with rods. When they had struck them with many blows, they threw them into prison, commanding the jailer to guard them securely; and he, having received such a command, threw them into the inner prison and fastened their feet in the stocks. Now about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns of praise to God, and the prisoners were listening to them;”(Acts 16:22-25 NASB2020)
But to walk on this great road called the "Highway of Holiness," and enjoy transcendent spiritual joy, one must be "holy": " The unclean will not travel on it, But it will be for the one who walks that way, And fools will not wander on it."
Today is a sinful and defiled environment; our eyes is filled with messages of lust and sin. These sins are like weeds in our hearts, and must be "weeded" daily. Otherwise, "if you don’t uproot weeds at the root, they will grow back in the spring breeze." These weeds of extreme self-centeredness and lust, if not "weeded and uprooted" daily. If a small weed is allowed to remain, and ignored as merely minor sins, will eventually "grow from a mustard seed into a tree." Many people cannot understand how a small mustard seed, once sprouted, can become a tree. Do not doubt it; it truly will become a mustard "tree"!
“Now those who belong to Christ Jesus crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let’s follow the Spirit as well. Let’s not become boastful, challenging one another, envying one another.” (Galatians 5:24-26 NASB2020)
Reading the Bible daily, using biblical truth to eradicate the weeds in our hearts, washing away sin daily, and becoming holy, allows us to walk daily on the roadway called the Highway of Holiness, ultimately reaching the Kingdom of Heaven and enjoying the blessings prepared since the creation of the world.
“No lion will be there, Nor will any vicious animal go up on it; They will not be found there. But the redeemed will walk there, And the redeemed of the Lord will return And come to Zion with joyful shouting, And everlasting joy will be on their heads. They will obtain gladness and joy, And sorrow and sighing will flee away.” (Isaiah 35:9-10 NASB2020)
